8×8 Oil on Wood Board
Black Wood Floater Frame
Why dandelions? My paintings always have a back story. I often reflect on my time as a high school counselor and am still amazed and humbled by the resiliency and of my students. Resilience is the quiet strength to rise again despite adversity, and what better example in nature than the dandelion. Often dismissed as a weed, the dandelion thrives in the harshest conditions, pushing through cracks in concrete, enduring wind, drought, lawn mowers, and annoyed landscapers. Its seeds float freely, finding new ground to root and grow. Resilience means adapting, persisting, and blooming even when circumstances try to hold you back. The dandelion doesn’t just survive - it flourishes, a quiet emblem of strength in the face of challenge. These dandelion paintings are an homage to my former students and hopefully a reminder to all that we can learn a lot from the yellow flowered weed.
