8×8
Oil on Board with Black Wood Floater Frame
My mom was an amazing woman and she is often the inspiration for my paintings. Scrabble was her favorite game and she would memorize obscure words to aid in her victories. She had no mercy. When she pulled all vowels, got stuck with a q without a u, or I scored big, she had several ways of showing her displeasure, and they became a source of amusement for the rest of us. She would say, "ree-di-cu-lus" or "pa-THE-tic" sounding out the syllables slowly and emphatically and when she really wanted you to know that she thought her tiles were worthless, she would bust out the "that's for the birds", and we would hide our smiles because we knew it was coming.
